Watch: West Indies Batter Survives Despite Being Run Out Against Australia In Bizarre Incident

West Indies batter Alzarri Joseph survived despite being run out in a bizarre incident during the second T20I match against Australia in Adelaide on Sunday. During the 19th over of the West Indies innings, Joseph went for a quick single but the throw from Mitchell Marsh was extremely quick and the bowler Spencer Johnson dislodged the bails with the batter short of the crease. However, the batter was not given out as none of the Australian players including the bowler appealed for it. Marsh started celebrating after the replay was shown on the big screen but the umpire did not change his decision.

Australia all-rounder Tim David was heard saying "this is ridiculous" following the umpire's decision.

"Neither umpire shall give a batter out, even though he/she may be out under the Laws, unless appealed to by a fielder. This shall not debar a batter who is out under any of the Laws from leaving the wicket without an appeal having been made. Note, however, the provisions of 31.7,' the rule says.

Coming to the match, big-hitting Glenn Maxwell slammed a 50-ball century as Australia beat the West Indies by 34 runs. The 35-year-old was in ominous touch, blasting eight sixes and 12 fours in a blistering 120 not out from 55 deliveries.

It propelled Australia to 241-4 and the visitors could only muster 207-9 in reply, led by skipper Rovman Powell's battling 63.

Extremely bizarre scenes were witnessed at Adelaide Oval.
