Watch Viaplay Cup draw LIVE as 7 Premiership prepare to find out group stage fate

The 2022/23 campaign has only just finished but we're already looking ahead to next season.

And it starts to take shape today as the draw for the Viaplay Cup group stage gets under way. The Scottish Premiership's top five won't be involved as Celtic and Rangers aim to qualify for the Champions League while Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs get ready for a crack at the Europa and Conference Leagues. But for the rest of the SPFL – and beyond – it all starts with the League Cup in mid-July.

July 15 might seem a long way away but it will be here in just a matter of weeks and managers will be able to kick off their pre-season scouting missions once the groups are confirmed. Pot 1 sees the 7 Scottish Premiership clubs joined by relegated Dundee United and with no regional split again this year, there is the chance for some enticing trips.

You can see the pots below and watch the draw as it happens in the player above.

Pot 1: St Mirren, Motherwell, Livingston, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Ross County, Dundee United, Dundee

Pot 2: Ayr United, Queen's Park, Partick Thistle, Morton, Inverness, Raith Rovers, Arbroath, Hamilton

Pot 3: Cove, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Airdie, Alloa, Queen of the South, FC Edinburgh, Montrose

Pot 4: Kelty Hearts, Clyde, Peterhead, Stirling Albion, Dumbarton, Annan, East Fife, Forfar

Pot 5: Stenhousemuir, Stranraer, Bonnyrigg Rose, Elgin, Albion Rovers, Brechin City, Spartans, Cowdenbeath
