Watch: Two Manchester non-league players score incredible goals on opening day of the season

Two players for Wythenshawe's two non-league football teams scored incredible long-range goals on the same day. In remarkably similar strikes just minutes apart, Wythenshawe Town's Jordan Burton and Wythenshawe Amateurs' Arron Hevingham both lobbed the goalkeepers from just inside their own half on the first day of the new season.

Burton's came in his side's 3-1 away win at Irlam at FC in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Saturday. The full-back, who came on as a substitute, hit a beautiful half-volley that began outside the post before curling in.

On footage of the strike, shared on the club's social media, a teammate can be heard shouting ''Oh my woooooord" as it flies over the goalkeeper's head and into the net, sparking wild celebrations.

Afterwards, his manager James Kinsey said: "When the ball sits to him, I'm not just saying this, out of anybody in the team, you want it falling to Jordan Burton because his technique and his control is unbelievable.

"Goal of the season on day one. Absolutely unbelievable, he's caught it perfect. Made up for him."

Fans and fellow players also showered him with praise on social media. "Some technique on that", Ryan Johno said on Twitter. "Goal of the season in first game., awesome finish," John Sandiford said.
