Canadian phenom Summer McIntosh will face American star Katie Ledecky in the women's 400-metre freestyle final scheduled for 7:32 a.m. ET — the first of their two matchups this week.
The 18-year-old from Toronto reclaimed the world record in the event at the Canadian trials last month with a time of 3:54.18, beating the mark of 3:55.38 set by Australia's Ariarne Titmus at the 2023 worlds.
McIntosh will also compete in the women's 200m individual medley semifinals at 7:59 a.m. ET. She is looking to become the second swimmer in history to win five individual titles at a single long-course world championships, after Michael Phelps in 2007.
Sunday's session will also feature Montreal's Ilya Kharun and Toronto's Josh Liendo in the men's 50m butterfly semifinals at 7:23 a.m. ET.
The other finals set for Sunday are the men's 400m freestyle (7:02 a.m. ET), the women's 4x100m freestyle relay (8:16 a.m. ET) and the men's 4x100m freestyle relay (8:27 a.m. ET).
