Royal Challengers Bangalore, as a franchise, ended its excruciating wait to taste success in franchise cricket as the Smriti Mandhana-led team clinched the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 title, beating the Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday. RCB's title triumph sent a jubilant wave all across the city, with fans taking to the streets to celebrate the historic victory. "RCB, RCB" chants could be heard across the city as the franchise finally managed to add a trophy to its cabinet.

Since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, RCB had never gone on to win the title. But, in only their second WPL campaign, the women's team of the franchise lifted the elusive trophy.

After clinching a maiden WPL title RCB off-spinner Shreyanka Patil dedicated the win to the fans.

An all-round Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by yet another solid knock by Ellyse Perry and brilliant bowling spells from spinners Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux captured their first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) title after defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the title clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

Shreyanka secured the Purple Cap for most wickets by a player in the tournament after her exploits. She has 13 wickets in eight games at an average of 12.07, with the best bowling figures of 4/12. The youngster won the Emerging Player of the Season as well for her brilliant performance throughout the tournament.
