WATCH | Dewald Brevis smashes five sixes in a row in Caribbean Premier League

South African teenage batting sensation Dewald Brevis smashed five sixes in a row playing for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CBL) on Thursday.

After failing to score off his first delivery, Brevis smashed five maximums off the final five deliveries of the innings to finish not out on 30 off 6 balls.

Brevis' heroics proved vital as the Patriots posted 163/6 off their allotted 20 overs. The Trinbago Knight Riders could only reply with 156/7, going down by seven runs.

Earlier in the year, Brevis made headlines when he broke the record for the most runs scored in the U19 Cricket World Cup - 506 runs in six innings at an average of 84.33.

His exploits saw him bought by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League auction for R6 million. 

In seven IPL innings, Brevis scored 161 runs at an average of 23.00 and a strike rate of 142.47. His 49 off 25 balls against the Punjab Kings was the most memorable.

Brevis will also play for the MI Cape Town franchise in January's inaugural SA20.
