Watch: Chelsea fans serenade manager Thomas Tuchel after win

As the Premier League season drew to a close, the Chelsea squad and staff gave an appreciative lap of honour to the fans at Stamford Bridge, who then showed their adoration for manager Thomas Tuchel.

Since his appointment in January 2021, the German coach has won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

While the 2021-22 season ended in disappointment in the domestic cups and turmoil off the pitch with regard to ownership, Tuchel is still fully backed by the club and their fans.

As the 48-year-old walked around the pitch after Chelsea’s final day win over Watford, he was clearly enjoying being serenaded with the “we’ve got super Tommy Tuchel” chant and clapped the supporters who stayed to applaud him and his team.

He was linked with the Manchester United job when the UK government imposed sanctions on Chelsea earlier this year, but he showed his commitment to the club.

Chelsea fans have even created a large banner of their head coach which was on display in the stadium during their last two games and Tuchel thanked them for their support.

“I was very happy. I never had any banner and I was actually looking at the banner for Mason Mount until somebody told me there’s another banner on the other side,” Tuchel told Chelsea’s website after their draw against Leicester City.

‘It’s very nice so thank you very much. I will do my best to earn it.”

Chelsea finished third in a mixed campaign and will be hoping to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title in 2022-23.

But they will have to cope without Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who are about to leave on free transfers.
