WATCH | AmaZulu's Maluleka 'stable' after collapsing for second time

AmaZulu midfielder George Maluleka is reportedly in a stable condition after collapsing on the pitch during his side's 1-0 defeat to Swallows on Saturday.

The 34-year-old was given medical attention on the field at the Moses Mabhida Stadium before an ambulance transported him to the sidelines.

Maluleka didn't end up going to hospital but was given the all-clear by medics at the venue.

Worryingly this isn't the first time this season that the player has collapsed after he went to ground in the 0-0 draw with Sekhukhune United on 31 December.

"Thanks for your kind messages towards George Maluleke who required immediate medical attention right before the match against Swallows was about to end at Moses Mabhida," read a club statement.

"Mido was discharged after a number of tests were conducted by our medics."

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz told iDiski Times: "It is usual the heart situation and I will have to check if there is a tricky side on the results.

"Yes, this is a second time as you said in the spell of six months, so we need, one; to be cautious. Two; we need to check what is exactly happening because it is happening quite often with footballers - you saw what happened to Richards Bay player [Siphamandla Mtolo]. So let's protect the man first."
