Afghanistan's sumptuous Cricket World Cup 2023 triumph against Pakistan on Monday went down in history as one of the team's finest in the sport. Having not beaten Pakistan in 7 ODIs before, the Afghans outplayed Babar Azam's men in Chennai to send shockwaves around the cricketing spectrum. As the entire team celebrated this monumental victory, head coach Jonathan Trott gave a rousing dressing room speech, lauding his players for what they managed to pull off on the field.

For Afghanistan, Noor Ahmed spun web around Pakistan batters, bagging 3 wickets in his maiden World Cup game. With the bat, it was Ibrahim Zadran who top-scored with a knock of 87 runs off 113 balls. Ramat Shah (77), Rahmataullah Gurbaz (65) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (48) also played important roles in the chase of 284 runs.

"Our batters, I thought the way that we started, Ibrahim and Gurbaz I thought that was outstanding. That's world-class batting. You guys played cricket shots. That's what we've got. We've got a lot of talent. If we just apply ourselves in the way that Rahmat and the skipper played.
