AFG vs BAN LIVE Score, T20 World Cup 2024: Afghanistan Clash With Bangladesh For Semi-final Spot

Afghanistan vs Bangladesh LIVE Score: Afghans would fancy their chances against a down-and-out Bangladesh, who seemed happy just to progress to the Super Eights. That Afghanistan have the skills and mindset to excel in the format is not up for debate. They have proved that they are no longer a side reliant on just their bowling unit to eke out victories. They will take on Bangladesh at the same venue where they defeated Australia and the spin friendly conditions will aide them. Afghanistan announce spin-heavy squad for tri-series, Asia Cup

KABUL: Fast-rising Afghanistan announced a spin-heavy squad on Sunday led by Rashid Khan for the T20 tri-series and Asia Cup to be played in the United Arab Emirates. Along with Khan, Afghanistan will have Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar and Mohammad Nabi in the spin department as they play their first Twenty20 internationals this year. The tri-series, also involving Pakistan and hosts the UAE, starts in Sharjah on Friday, while the six-nation Asia Cup begins on September 9. The 19-year-old Ghazanfar has yet to play a T20I but has made rapid strides in domestic matches in that format and one-day internationals. Afghanistan lost in the semifinals at last year’s men’s T20I World Cup in the United States and West Indies but have not played a single T20I since the start of 2025. Fazlhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Azmatullah Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib are the fast-bowling options. Afghanistan face Pakistan in the opening match of the tri-series on Friday. For the Asia Cup, Afghanistan are drawn in Group B with Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. Defending champions India, Oman, Pakistan and UAE are in Group A. Afghanistan face Hong Kong in the opening match of the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi on September 9. Afghanistan also announced a series of three one-day internationals and three T20Is with Bangladesh after the Asia Cup, also in the UAE. The T20Is are on October 2, 3 and 5 in Sharjah, while the ODIs will be played from 8-14 in Abu Dhabi. Squad: Rashid Khan (captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Sediqullah Atal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Mohammad Ishaq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar, Noor Ahmad, Fareed Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq

Rashid Khan to lead spin-heavy Afghanistan in Asia Cup

KABUL: Rashid Khan will lead a spin-heavy Afghanistan at the next month’s Asia Cup with uncapped mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar also named in the 17-member Twenty20 squad on Sunday. Khan was named captain and is joined by Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi as the other seasoned spinners for the Sept. 9-28 tournament in the United Arab Emirates, where pitches are expected to help slow bowlers at Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Afghanistan hasn’t played a T20 since beating Zimbabwe in December last year.

Pakistan Cricket Board Breaks Silence After Khushdil Shah Attacks Spectator During PAK vs NZ 3rd ODI

The PCB on Saturday strongly denounced the alleged use of inappropriate remarks against Pakistan players by a group of Afghan spectators during the third ODI against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui on Saturday. Two spectators of Afghanistan origin were later ejected from the ground following the Pakistani team's complaint. Pakistan lost the match by 43 runs to suffer a 0-3 whitewash in the one-day series. The tourists had lost the five-match T20 series 1-4.

Afghanistan wins toss and elects to bat against Australia in must-win Champions Trophy game

LAHORE: Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the coin toss under overcast conditions and elected to bat in Afghanistan’s must-win last Group B game of the Champions Trophy against Australia on Friday. Afghanistan made a big turnaround in the tournament when it eliminated England with a stunning eight-run victory at the same venue on Wednesday. Afghanistan, which lost the first match to South Africa by 107 runs, went with the same playing XI for the third successive game and banked on three spinners — Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Australia has three points from its record-breaking 352-run chase against England and a point from its washout game against South Africa at Rawalpindi. Australia named an unchanged side. New Zealand and India have already qualified for the semifinals from Group A with host Pakistan and Bangladesh eliminated. Lineups: Afghanistan: Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi Australia: Matthew Short, Travis Head, Steven Smith (captain), Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson

AFG vs AUS LIVE Score Updates, Champions Trophy 2025: Cloud Cover Aids Australia But Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal Lead Afghanistan Comeback

Afghanistan vs Australia LIVE Updates, Champions Trophy 2025: Sediqullah Atal and Ibrahim Zadran look to steady Afghanistan's ship in their Champions Trophy match against Australia in Lahore. Spencer Johnson clean bowled Rahmanullah Gurbaz with a toe-crushing yorker in the first over of the match. Both teams are unchanged for this do-or-die contest at the Gaddafi Stadium. Amid uncertainity over the weather, there is some good news for the fans as there is no rain at the moment. Afghanistan are coming to this on the back of dumping England out of the Champions Trophy with an eight-run win. For Australia, the match against Afghanistan poses a tricky challenge, with a win necessary following the washout of their game against South Africa. Should they lose, there is still a mathematical possibility to qualify, via net run rate. However, Afghanistan must win. (LIVE SCORECARD)

"Should Open The Batting": Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram Mock England Star After Champions Trophy Exit

England were dumped out of the running for the Champions Trophy 2025 by Afghanistan on Wednesday night, with the 2019 World Cup winners failing to chase down a target of 326. While it seemed like they were in the hunt for the majority of the run chase, loss of wickets at regular intervals led to England's downfall. Following the defeat, Pakistan legend Wasim Akram and India legend Sunil Gavaskar cracked a joke regarding England's batting order, and, in particular, about the fact that Adil Rashid has 10 first class centuries.
