KEITH JACKSON: That’s a tricky one, He’s clearly frustrated at the lack of unity around the club and probably a bit bruised by the lukewarm relationship with a support which once adored him. But drawing daggers seems like a dangerous move at this critical stage in the campaign.
ANDREW NEWPORT: Given the current mood of the Celtic faithful right now, it probably wasn’t the wisest move. The fans are fed up watching their team’s lethargic performances while the board have £70million burning a hole in their pocket. The only way to improve relations would be to bring in the signings the fans are demanding before Thursday’s deadline.
FRASER WILSON: He was within his rights, yes. Booing a win is always going to get the manager’s back up. But I’m sure Rodgers shares the fans’ frustrations at the performance and also the lack of action in the transfer window.
KEITH: It’s certainly not helping. Given the amount of money that’s been spent on that playing surface it’s also impossible to understand. They may have disco lights and £70m sitting in the bank but they need to give their team a pitch that’s fit for purpose.
ANDREW: Yes. Celtic want to dominate opponents by dominating the ball but that’s hard to do when the turf beneath your feet is churning up like a mud bath. Clubs like Motherwell and Hibs have shown it’s possible to produce a decent pitch in this part of the world while working on a shoestring so Rodgers is right to expect that Celtic’s ground staff do better.
FRASER: Something was certainly killing their final ball on Saturday but whether it was the bobbly pitch or their own inability to complete a killer pass is up for debate. One thing’s for sure, nobody will accept a substandard surface as an excuse if they let
