Warrington Wolves land Australia and Queensland representative as squad overhaul continues

Warrington Wolves have confirmed the capture of Australia international Josh McGuire on a two-year contract. The 32-year-old NRL enforcer joins the Wire after an NRL career spanning 252 games.

McGuire started his NRL career in 2009 and has gone on to play 14 State of Origin games for Queensland and eight times for Australia. He started in the Kangaroos' World Cup Final win over England in 2017. Domestically he spent ten years with hometown club Brisbane Broncos before spells with North Queensland Cowboys and St George Illawarra Dragons.

He is the latest addition in an enormous turnover of players at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. He is the club's four confirmed pack addition for 2023, following Paul Vaughan, Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson to the club next year.

“I’m looking forward to getting over, wearing the primrose and blue and doing something special with this group. With the new additions, the pack that’s building there and the young guys coming through I’m very excited to be part of the squad for next year.”

Head Coach Daryl Powell added: “Josh is a tough, aggressive forward and I see a lot of strong leadership in his game. From my conversations with him he’s very passionate about coming over here for the right reasons.

“He’s had a fantastic career. He’s an Australian international who has
