Warri Wolves beef up squad, beat Trade Safe FC 3-1

Warri Wolves FC commenced the second round of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) on an impressive note, beating Trade Safe FC of Lagos 3-1 on Sunday.

The victory came a few days after the club recruited new players to ensure a smooth sail in the challenges ahead.

At the end of the first stanza of the NNL, Warri Wolves was among the teams rooted at the bottom of the table, but the club’s management, led by Nevile Ambekederemo, decided to bring in some new players, including Ospino Egbe from Wikki Tourists, Yusuf Omotayo, a former player with Rivers United and Smart City FC of Lagos,Ambakederemo Tamakuro from Sunshine Stars and Bright Akpojuowevwo from Bayelsa United.

The other new stars are Stephen Eregare from Calabar Rovers and Odafi Emmanuel of Sporting FC, Lagos, among other top players from the Nigerian league.

The recruitment paid off on Sunday as the Seasiders dispatched Trade Safe FC of Lagos 3-1.

The goals were scored by Osigwe Ekene, Collins Onovughe and Jabbar Malik, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player of the match.

The result on Sunday has pushed Warri Wolves up on the table, and according to Ambekederemo, it will propel the team for a better performance in the second round.

Meanwhile, some of the players, who spoke with The Guardian, yesterday, pleaded with Governor Sheriff Oborevwore to release more funds to the club as they strivefor a good campaign in this second stanza of the league.
