Warning to close doors and windows in Blackwood as fire breaks out - live updates

Emergency services are currently tackling a fire that broke out this afternoon - Sunday, March 30. Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Services are at the scene on Heol Y Dderwen, Blackwood.

Reports were made about a fire on grassland to police at around 4.30pm, today. While no roads have been closed, diversions have been put in place for people's safety.

Gwent Police released a statement urging the public to avoid the area and "ensure all doors and windows are closed".

The statement from Gwent Police reads: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a fire on Heol Y Dderwen. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.

"If you live locally, please ensure all doors and windows are closed. Diversions are in place to ensure your safety."
