Wales v England team announcement live updates as Gatland names side early

Wales have named their team to face England in their first Rugby World Cup warm-up a day early, with Jac Morgan appointed as captain.

Former Wales U20s captain Morgan will captain the senior side for the first time aged 23, starting at openside flanker with Christ Tshiunza at blindside and Aaron Wainwright at No. 8.

Tighthead prop Keiron Assiratti, loosehead Corey Domachowski and centre Max Llewellyn all start to earn their first senior Wales caps, while Henry Thomas and Taine Plumtree could make their debuts if they come off the bench.

Leigh Halfpenny is set to earn his 100th Wales cap from full-back.

Team announcements are usually reserved for the Thursday before a Saturday Test, but head coach Warren Gatland has chosen to unveil his matchday squad 24 hours early.

Wales will then travel to Twickenham on August 12 and host South Africa in Cardiff on August 19. Gatland and his coaching staff will decide on a final 33-man Rugby World Cup squad and publicly announce it a few days later.
