Virgil van Dijk tells Chelsea 'that's your problem' as Liverpool skipper issues Carabao Cup complacency warning

Virgil van Dijk has warned Chelsea not to underestimate Liverpool despite their large injury and doubts list for Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp's men demonstrated their scoring prowess in a recent match against Luton, where they came from behind to secure a 4-1 victory, even without two of their key players. Both Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez are facing late fitness tests before Sunday's Carabao Cup final. Salah is recovering from fatigue after his first match back at Brentford following a month-long break due to a hamstring injury, while Nunez was substituted at half-time during the same game as a precautionary measure.

With Diogo Jota, Liverpool's second-highest scorer this season, already ruled out, the Reds' attack may seem less threatening. However, both Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have scored in double figures this season. Van Dijk warned Chelsea not to view this as an opportunity for an easy win as they aim to makeup for their defeat on penalties two years ago.

"If they take us lightly then that's their problem. That fear factor, we don't have influence on that," said the captain of the Netherlands national team. "I think the players coming in then have to step up and show they're wrong. I think that's the only way to do it."

"I think we have enough quality to read the opponents. Players who come in have to show that. Everyone has to step up and the ones that play have to deliver to get results. I think if you play for Liverpool, you're quite a good player already, so go out there and make everyone proud."

Van Dijk took over as captain last summer after Jordan Henderson left. This is his first chance to lift a trophy, having seen Henderson celebrate wins in the Premier League, Champions League, League and FA Cup and Club World
