Virals: EPL club have 'made an offer' for West Ham defender Issa Diop

West Ham defender Issa Diop has reportedly been the subject of further interest from Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old has been an integral part of David Moyes’ side in recent months following injuries to Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

However, as Zouma returns and should the Irons make a signing before the deadline, it’s likely that the Frenchman will return to a watching brief.

According to a report from RMC Sport, as cited by Actu Foot on Twitter, Newcastle have submitted an official offer for Diop.

The report claims that the North East club have ‘set its sights’ on the six-cap France Under 21 international.

This season Diop has made 17 appearances across all competitions – earning a 6.59 average Sofascore rating in eight Premier League outings.

Valued at £10.8million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2023 (Transfermarkt), signing the Frenchman in the not too distant future would be a smart move from the Hammers.

Despite showing early signs of promise when arriving from Toulouse, Diop has struggled to fully adapt to a consistent level in the top-flight.

However, the mooted £6.6million bid and having already allowed Frederik Alves to leave the club for Brondby IF, it’s unlikely the club would sanction this sale without a signing.
