Virals: Celtic star shows his class with superb volley

Celtic’s Matt O’Riley was in action for the Danish under-21 side on Tuesday against Turkey, and he scored his first goal for his country in some style.

The ball broke to the Hoops midfielder on the edge of the penalty box, and he volleyed a fine shot into the back of the net.

The win for Denmark keeps them in second place in Group I in the qualifying for the under-21 European Championship. O’Riley has started the last three games of the qualifying process for the Danish side, and the team are unbeaten in those games, having picked up seven points from a possible nine.

It was really was very good goal for O’Riley, and it was an important one for the Danish side too, as it got them back on level terms, and they went on to win the game.

If O’Riley keeps up his current level of form for both Celtic and for the Danish under-21 squad, he could well become part of the main national side, as he looks more than capable of taking that step up.

O’Riley’s signing in the January transfer window might have come out of the blue, but it was another good decision by Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou to bring the player from MK Dons to Glasgow.

O’Riley didn’t need any time to get up to speed with the Scottish game, and played in some big games against Hearts and Rangers as soon as he arrived at the club.

The Hoops won both of those games, and the player has went from strength to strength ever since, and it looks like he will be a vitally important player for the Hoops next season and beyond.

O’Riley knows how to score a good goal, you only need to look at his strike against St Johnstone last season for an example of that, and don’t be surprised to see him score some more excellent goals for Celtic next season.
