Vinicius Junior set to be rewarded a new contract at Real Madrid

Real Madrid will confirm Champions League hero Vinicius Junior’s Galactico status with a contract worth close to £50million.

He scored the only goal to beat Liverpool on Saturday as he tapped home Federico Valverde's cross.

It capped a breakthrough season for the Brazilian, 21, with 22 goals and 20 assists to help Carlo Ancelotti's side pick up two major trophies.

He had previously not managed to score more than six goals in a single season for Los Blancos.

His current deal expires in 2024, although there is an option for a further year.

But the Spanish club want a long-term extension in the form of a new five-year deal worth £170,000 per week.

Real Madrid are no strangers to handing out lucrative contracts, having signed Eden Hazard and David Alaba, and made them two of their highest earners in recent years.

Vinicius Junior, who joined the Spanish giants as an 18-year-old, looks to have now earned himself a deal that highlights his importance at the Bernabeu moving forward.
