Vince McMahon: Roman Reigns’ 20-word heartfelt reaction to WWE retirement
Vince McMahon has finally stepped down and retired, handing over the reins to Triple H who is the new Head of Creative of the company, adding the role to his current commitments with the WWE.
The news rocked the WWE Universe with it seeming McMahon would be able to just continue for ever, but it’s now time for a new era without the stalwart.
Superstars from all disciplines and even retired wrestlers have been having their say on the news, with many of them owing their career to McMahon after he made the WWE what it is today, guiding it to global, dizzying heights.
One of the more heart-warming takes on the retirement was from Roman Reigns, who was filmed offering his words of gratitude to McMahon.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Reigns was making an appearance on the TODAY show earlier this week.
When he was leaving the NBCUniversal 30 Rockefeller Plaza, he was bombarded with adoring fans asking for selfies and autographs of the Superstar.
On his way out of the studio, he was asked for his opinion on McMahon’s retirement, with Reigns’ response being: “I just wish him nothing but luck and happiness in his future. He’s been great to me and my family.”
Reigns is gearing up for a huge SummerSlam showdown when he takes on Brock Lesnar, with the fan also asking him what his mindset was heading into the grudge match, offering a cold two word response: “Don’t lose.”
You can’t argue with that, he’s obviously going to be in that state of mind and is clearly focussed on his huge match this weekend.
SummerSlam is offering Triple H his first chance to oversee a major pay-per-view event for the first time in his new role as Head of Creative.
