Vince McMahon retires from WWE: Brock Lesnar 'very pissed off' and leaves SmackDown
Vince McMahon has retired from WWE in the biggest wrestling news story ever, and Brock Lesnar is reportedly rather unhappy about it all.
McMahon tweeted this evening confirming that, after 40 years in charge of WWE, he was retiring from the company.
He will remain a majority shareholder but has stepped back from his roles as Chairman, CEO and Head of Creative.
Taking over as Chairwoman is Stephanie McMahon, Vince’s daughter. She will also serve as the co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.
Vince’s announcement was made on Twitter, which you can check out below.
At 77, time for me to retire. Thank you, WWE Universe. Then. Now. Forever. Together. #WWE #thankful
This is the biggest change that WWE has undergone since Vince took over in 1982, and the company will never be the same again.
Speaking of the changes, Brock Lesnar is said to not be too happy about how things have panned out, at least according to Fightful Select.
Bryan Alvarez tweeted that Brock has left the SmackDown taping today, and that has now been corroborated by Fightful, who have some additional information on the matter.
There were immediate internal rumors that Brock Lesnar was “very pissed off” about the news and left, as Bryan Alvarez reported. We have also heard this rumor.
So it seems like, at least as of right now, Brock won’t be appearing on tonight’s SmackDown show, as he was scheduled to do so.
Brock is slated to challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for his titles at SummerSlam next weekend.
As of right now, there’s no word on if the match is going to take place or not, but WWE has eight days to sort out their plans, and if needs must, figure out a backup.
