Vince McMahon: Kevin Owens dealt with WWE Chairman directly for contract renewal talks

Kevin Owens dealt directly with Vince McMahon for his contract renewal talks with WWE at the end of 2021.

It was reported towards the end of 2021 that Kevin Owens’ WWE contract was coming to an end at the end of January 2022.

Many fans speculated that Owens was going to leave WWE at the end of his deal, but that didn’t end up happening.

In December 2021, reports stated that Owens had re-signed with WWE after receiving an “excellent offer”, which he has since confirmed.

Now, in an interview on the Out of Character podcast, Owens has opened up about his contract renewal talks with WWE.

Interestingly, Owens explained that Vince McMahon really wanted him to stay with WWE, and dealt with him directly for the contract renewals, via Fightful.

“WWE didn’t really let me think about it much, they made it clear they wanted me to stay. Vince McMahon, I dealt with Vince directly and he made it clear he wanted me to stay. We made an agreement right then and there.”

The former Universal Champion explained that he actually re-signed with WWE several weeks before the news broke in the middle of December.

Kevin Owens is set for a very big few weeks, with reports suggesting he’ll be facing a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38.

Austin hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania XIX back in 2003, but will apparently be making a come back on the show to face Owens on either April 2 or 3.

The storyline has already started on WWE Raw, with Owens cutting several anti-Texas promos over the last few weeks, which will likely eventually be answered by Stone Cold.

Austin hasn’t appeared on WWE TV yet, but his return will likely be taking place either next week or the week after, ahead of WrestleMania at the beginning of April.
