Village near Greater Manchester has a 30-year-old baroness - thanks to Boris Johnson

With its smart restaurants, upmarket boutiques and cocktail bars, it's got everything your average multi-millionaire footballer or well-heeled Cheshire housewife could possibly need. And now Alderley Edge even has its own member of the House of Lords.

In total her parliamentary career spanned around five years, including a one month stint as intern to Hazel Grove MP William Wragg and a spell spent working as a senior parliamentary assistant to former Northern Powerhouse minister Sir Jake Berry.

There she will have a hand in shaping the laws of our country and be able to claim £342 a day in attendance allowances as well as travel expenses

Her appointment came on a list which included a damehood for Priti Patel, knighthoods dished out to Jacob Rees-Mogg and Michael Fabricant, and saw accusations of cronyism thrown at Mr Johnson. She will join the House of Lords just a week after former London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey, who took part in a lockdown-busting Christmas
