Villa should sell Sanson after latest developments
Morgan Sanson has struggled for form, fitness and playing time since joining Aston Villa, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see him leave this summer.
The 27-year-old hasn’t managed to hold down a starting place in the Midlands and Football Insider say he might have an opportunity to return to France this summer, so this could be his final season in England.
Sanson joined Villa on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Olympique Marseille in January 2021 and has gone on to make just 20 appearances in all competitions, amassing a paltry 685 minutes of playing time.
The uncapped Frenchman has played in 12/36 games across the board, amassing 439/3240 minutes of playing time. He’s behind Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn in the pecking order, so the writing is on the wall.
Football Insider say Marseille would like to bring Sanson back to the Stade Vélodrome and Villa aren’t going to stand in his way, so the 27-year-old could be on the move if his £10m asking price is met.
A move would suit all parties, as Sanson needs first-team football and Villa can reinvest the money on a replacement.
