Vile man attacked women as she got off tram, in Morrison's car park and on the bus in terrifying 30 minute rampage

A pervert who sexually assaulted three young women within thirty minutes has been jailed. Eric Mwangi, 33, had earlier swiped a bottle of whisky from a hotel in Manchester city centre before embarking on the ‘disturbing’ campaign.

One young woman was assaulted after she got off the tram to meet her mum. Minutes later he grabbed another woman intimately as she pushed a shopping trolley outside a supermarket in Hollinwood.

He then approached a teenage girl on the bus before assaulting her. After being convicted at a trial of offences of sexual assault, Mwangi was jailed for three years at Minshull Street Crown Court on October 23.

The court heard that the day before, Mwangi had entered the Ibis Hotel on Portland Street before sleeping in a hotel room after a guest had left their door open. Later that afternoon he went down to the hotel bar and swiped a bottle of Monkey Shoulder whisky.

On February 20 this year, a young woman was meeting her mum after getting off the tram in order to collect her lunch. As she got off the tram, Mwangi, who was also on the tram, followed her before ‘grabbing her backside very hard’ with both hands causing her pain.

“He then grabbed her arm, she described, as if she was going to be kissed,” prosecutor Roger Brown said. “Her mother saw that incident, before seeing him drinking from a bottle of vodka.”

Around 10 minutes later Mwangi approached a different woman in the Morrisons’ car park in Hollinwood who was walking with a trolley, and grabbed at her crotch.
