Manchester United remain interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP but their ability to secure Champions League qualification will play a crucial role in determining their transfer budget.

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that the amount United can spend on a centre forward is dependent on their Financial Fair Play (FFP) position come the end of the season.

"Nothing is decided so far. For Man United, the Financial Fair Play budget will be crucial to understand how much they can spend on a striker," Romano said.

Gyokeres has a release clause of around £85million but Sporting are expected to entertain offers in the region of £55m to £70m instead. The forward has scored 52 times and added 12 assists in 48 matches this season.
