Vigilante beautician bursts into £500,000 home of event manageress and chokes her until she could barely breathe 'after losing grip on reality'

A vigilante beautician strangled an innocent businesswoman in a bungled revenge attack after mistakenly believing she was ''complicit'' in the sexual abuse of children. Natalie Shelley, 37, burst into the £500,000 home of an event manageress and choked her until she could barely breathe after learning the victim's ex-boyfriend was being investigated on suspicion of assault.

A court heard Shelley who was close friends and a neighbour of the 35-year old victim had initially called police in the unfounded belief the she was somehow involved in the abuse. But Shelley then took the law into her own hands and decide to confront the victim herself after being advised an officer would call her back.

During the assault Shelly who was described as being normally "gentle, placid, and loving" also grabbed the victim by the hair and “yanked” her head up and down and backwards and forwards before pulled away by a friend of the victim.

The victim, a managing director whose firm specialised in organising events for corporate clients in Monaco and in the south of France, was not injured in the attack but suffered severe physical and psychological pain. The victim was so traumatised by the attack she quit her four bedroomed semi in Hartford, near Northwich, Cheshire and later sold up.

No charges have been brought against her or her former partner in relation to the alleged abuse and there is no suggestion the victim was ever under investigation by police.
