Viewers slam This Morning for 'ruining' Long Lost Family with spoilers

This Morning viewers were furious with the show for 'ruining' an upcoming episode of Long Lost Family. The hit documentary series tugs at heartstrings every week with its emotional stories of close relatives being reunited after years of separation.

However those tuning into the ITV morning show on Monday (July 10) saw members of a family gathered together on the sofa. Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary then explained that they were all due to appear on Monday night's episode.

It meant guest Sarah Hathaway’s family history was revealed during the five-minute segment. Sarah, who had been given up for adoption, discovered she had siblings when she learned the truth about her birth mother’s name, the Mirror reports.

It led to viewers questioning why This Morning didn’t wait to interview the family until the morning after Long Lost Family had aired. @Patr1ckMcCann said on Twitter: “Why didn’t they show this story tomorrow!?”

@Boppity_Boo34 wrote: “They always spoil the outcome of programmes on here". And @fordy1952 fumed: "Long Lost Family...TOTALLY ruined now...discuss it AFTER its shown NOT before....idiots."

Meanwhile @shabbapne said sarcastically: "Thanks for telling us everything that's happened #ThisMorning." And @JoeMartinDavid posted: "The whole point of #LongLostFamily is to follow the person on their journey. Why is #ThisMorning showing them reunited before the episode is shown? Have people switched off watching LLF?”

Without giving too much away, Sarah - who had been given up for adoption - discovered she had siblings when she learned that her birth mother had a different name than originally thought.
