Victor Osimhen provides update on future in transfer blow to Manchester United

Manchester United transfer target Victor Osimhen insists he is 'happy' at Napoli in a potential blow to several summer suitors.

Osimhen has been on the radar of Europe's top clubs after an incredible campaign in Naples, his 21 goals in 23 league games crucial as Luciano Spalletti's side sit top of Serie A and on course for a first Scudetto since 1990. The 24-year-old has formed a deadly partnership with Georgian sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the pair on course to take Napoli into the latter stages of the Champions League.

Such form has inevitably caught the eye of Europe's elite, with United one of several sides known to be interested in the Nigerian international. Erik ten Hag will add a world-class striker to his ranks this summer, with Kane earmarked as the prime target but Osimhen not far behind.

However the Reds - and other interested parties - look to have suffered a blow with Osimhen waxing lyrical about Napoli earlier this week.

"The truth is, what's happening to me is incredible. I hope the fans are as happy as I am, as we are," he told L'Equipe. "The whole environment you're talking about deserves this happiness. They are the ones who gave me the confidence that a young player needs to really explode."

Napoli are set to enter talks with Osimhen over a new contract come summer, with his current deal expiring in 2025, but will face pressure from across the continent to cash in on their stars, including Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia.
