Victor Lindelof might have a new role at Manchester United
There was confusion a week ago when Manchester United named their team to face Real Sociedad in the opening match of the Europa League. Erik ten Hag went with a strong side, such is the squad depth at his disposal, and confirmed a host of undroppable figures with their inclusion from the start.
One of those was at right-back, where the in-form Diogo Dalot started. It meant that Aaron Wan-Bissaka once again had to make do with a place on the bench, or at least that was the plan. Moments before the match began, he emerged in the Directors' Box clearly not involved in the matchday squad.
There won't be a repeat this Thursday night though; he's not even travelled to Moldova for the clash with FC Sheriff. Dalot is in line to start again in the Europa League, which is not much of an issue now given that Sunday's meeting with Leeds has been postponed.

There is no ignoring the fact that the Portuguese is now a favourite under Ten Hag while Wan-Bissaka is deemed surplus to requirements, but the dynamic does certainly pose a few questions going forward.
United were prepared to sell Wan-Bissaka this summer if an appropriate offer came in, but one didn't. They are also looking to sign a new full-back if possible, meaning the former Crystal Palace man will once again be allowed to leave next year unless he experiences a drastic transformation in fortune.
In the long term, there could be hope for either Ethan Laird or Marc Jurado to add further competition in the right-back role, but at the moment it seems Dalot will be certain to start whenever he is fit enough to do so.
