How Manchester United should line up vs FC Sheriff in Europa League fixture

Manchester United are set to play FC Sheriff in Moldova in the Europa League on Thursday night.

United began their Europa League campaign with a defeat against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford last week and Ten Hag's side will be desperate to bounce back against FC Sheriff, who convincingly beat Omonia 3-0 in their opening group stage fixture.

The Reds' match against Crystal Palace was postponed on Sunday and that means the players will be fresh heading into this game, although the travelling squad did not include Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

That means those four players are unavailable for FC Sheriff, but Ten Hag will be able to pick a strong team regardless.

After the inconsiderate decision to postpone successive Premier League fixtures, United might as well start as strong a side as possible.

United have not lost a game with Raphael Varane starting this season and conceded two goals in 405 minutes with the Frenchman on the pitch. He and Lisandro Martinez should be recalled.

Casemiro and Fred were poor last week, so Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes are worthy of recalls this week. Christian Eriksen, United's player of the month, has to continue as a starter.

His debut goal aside, Antony is yet to set the game alight in a United shirt but needs to develop an understanding with teammates. Jadon Sancho is the natural left winger and Cristiano Ronaldo the obvious frontman, despite his performance last week.
