Vettel supports Max’s weekend format change ideas

Sebastian Vettel has supported Max Verstappen’s calls for a change to the weekend format in Formula 1.

Ahead of the 2022 season, Formula 1 cancelled the traditional Thursday media day and moved the FIA driver press conference to the Friday morning before the practice sessions get underway in a bid to lighten the load on drivers and teams.

However, that plan has not had the desired effect as drivers and teams are still finding themselves with pretty much a full day of media commitments on a Thursday – which has quickly turned into an unofficial media day.

Verstappen made his feelings very clear on the issue at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and Vettel, too, thinks changes need to be made.

“The incentive was to make it shorter. It hasn’t worked,” Vettel said, as quoted by GPFans.

“So we need to improve. We can improve. The main thing is you want us to be excited if you have the same questions for an hour. It’s not going to be.

“We’ve been all been to the TV pen and basically our excitement is not at its peak. We need to find a better way.”
