Sebastian Vettel cooled any rumour of a return to Red Bull, saying it is a long time since he talked to his former team.
The height of Vettel’s success came during his years with Red Bull, the German racer claiming four Drivers’ Championships in succession between 2010-13, during which time Red Bull won all four of the Constructors’ titles on offer also.
Vettel moved on to Ferrari in 2015, a spell which brought a healthy collection of race wins, but not the title which both driver and team craved.
Now Vettel finds himself at Aston Martin, but his second campaign with the Silverstone outfit has not started in positive fashion. Vettel has now at least scored his first points of the season with a P8 at Imola in the underwhelming AMR22.
With the four-time champ in a car far from podium contention, never mind challenging for wins or titles, there are question marks swirling over whether Vettel will extend his stay with the team into 2023.
But, could he move forwards by taking a couple of steps back?
