VE Day 2025 celebrations LIVE as street parties, military procession and flypast held to mark 80th anniversary - latest updates
A military procession, flypast and street parties are just some of the events taking place today as the nation marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
Late on May 7, 1945, the BBC interrupted its scheduled radio programme with the announcement that war in Europe had ended. Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill declared the following day a public holiday - VE Day, to commemorate this momentous day.
Today is about paying tribute to the millions of people across the UK and The Commonwealth who served in the Second World War.
