Valtteri Bottas explains unique challenge triple-header gives drivers in terms of training

Valtteri Bottas has said that it is vital drivers rest during a triple-header as F1 comes to the end of the only one of the season at the Italian GP.

It’s not been the best set of races for Bottas since the summer break, with him having to spin into the gravel in Belgium to avoid Nicholas Latifi and then he had a retirment towards the end of the Dutch GP.

Indeed, he’ll be looking to try and end the triple header on a high at Monza this weekend, and he explained just what it’s like trying to keep sharp and fresh during one of the most hectic periods of the season.

Asked by Give Me Sport for his thoughts on the topic, he said:

“Well, with the triple-header it’s so important to rest. It’s been actually a pretty busy week, I had Monday off, Tuesday was a full day in the simulator and yesterday I travelled here and we’ve had events yesterday already.

“Monday I had an easy bike ride because I like cycling but, otherwise, I’ve been just trying to recharge.

“Training isn’t something that you should stress or worry about. You shouldn’t do something like that if you don’t feel like [it] you should just recharge and rest because in any case every weekend is physically and mentally quite demanding and what I learned over the years is that when there are gaps like [after Monza and] before Singapore, then you can actually do some training otherwise it’s just really trying to make sure you’re ready.”

As Valtteri mentions, Singapore is up next and this site also asked him what his plans were for the next few weeks, as he prepared for the humid conditions in south-east Asia:
