Valerien Ismael leaves West Brom

After weeks of uncertainty over the position of Valerien Ismael as manager at West Brom, the club has today confirmed on their official website that they are parting ways with their boss.

Ismael, who has only been with the Baggies since the beginning of the season, has struggled to pick up results and points over the last few months and supporters have been growing tired of his rein at the club.

With the side also slipping down the table – and potentially out of the play-off picture soon – they appear to have finally decided to get rid of Ismael in order to stop the rot and ensure they remain contenders for Premier League promotion.

The boss is proven at Championship level, having led Barnsley to the play-offs themselves last year. Considering their current turmoil and positioning, it emphasises just how well the manager did at Oakwell during his stint there.

It led to West Brom appointing him as their manager for the current season but, after initially looking bright and leading the Baggies towards the top end of the table, results have tailed off and the club have now seen enough of Ismael at the Hawthorns.

The search then, will now be on for the club to try and find someone who can grab them the promotion they desire. There are plenty of contenders and the team’s supporters will no doubt be delighted to hear that they are going in a different direction without Ismael – and they’ll be eager to see if they can arrest the slide under new leadership and dream of promotion to the Premier League again.
