Vaclav Cerny knows what Rangers must do to beat Celtic as he recalls Europa League triumph at Parkhead

Vaclav Cerny would settle for a repeat of his last visit to Celtic Park.

The Rangers winger bagged a winning goal for Ajax in their 2-1 Europa League victory over the Hoops back in November 2015. And Ibrox punters would love a similar outcome in the Old Firm derby this afternoon. Cerny believes his time at the Dutch giants - and their games against arch-rivals Feyenoord - will help him when it comes to the Glasgow equivalent.

And as one of Philippe Clement’s new boys preparing for his first taste of the fixture - he says he’s ready for whatever it throws at him. Cerny, who arrived on loan from Wolfsburg this summer, said: “I don’t know if I can compare derbies but I’ve played in another big one, Ajax v Feyenoord. That’s not the smallest derby! But I can’t wait to experience this one. I love these types of games. I’m not going to say what it brings out in me but I know I enjoy them.

“My last game there was in the Europa League, it was my European debut and a good night for me. I was more focused on everything that was going on with me than the atmosphere but it was my first game in Europe for Ajax.

“I was new to that kind of big stadium but it was a very nice night for the club and myself. What would it mean to do that again on Sunday? A lot.

“I now feel 100 percent ready to play 90 minutes. Fitness-wise, I feel great. And the team feels good. We’ve had time to prepare for this game and we’re all looking forward to it.

“These are the games I came to Rangers for. They’re the games you want to play in. This will always be special so I can’t wait for it.

“Obviously I’ve spoken to people about the atmosphere and what it’s like. In the past, I’ve also watched games so I know from a distance how it will be.
