US PGA Championship: Selected tee times

The last time the US PGA Championship was held at the demanding Southern Hills course in Oklahoma in 2007, Tiger Woods claimed the Wanamaker Trophy after beating Woody Austin by two shots.

The 15-time major winner tees off alongside Jordan Spieth today looking to complete a career grand slam, while four-time major winner Rory McIlroy is bidding for his third success in the tournament.

The marquee group will start at 2.06pm Irish time.

2008 champion Padraig Harrington tees off alongside Stewart Cink and Jason Dufner, whose 2013 win remains his sole major. They get underway at 2.11pm.

Seamus Power, ranked 42nd in the world and playing at Southern Hills following his top-20 finish in the AT&T Byron Nelson last weekend, is taking part in his second major this year. Just before 7pm, he is out on course with Scott Stallings and Russell Knox.

Five minutes later, at 7.03pm to be precise, Shane Lowry begins his tournament. His tie for fourth last year was his best performance in the tournament, and he is grouped alongside four-time major winner Brooks Koepka, who has claimed the Wanamaker trophy twice previously, and Australian Adam Scott.

Is there anything new for 2022?

Architect Gil Hanse has overseen a restoration of the course since Tiger Woods won his 13th major title here in 2007, with a number of trees removed and run-off areas becoming a bigger feature around the greens. Woods undertook a scouting trip to the course last month and had the club's director of golf Cary Cozby as his caddie. "I think he can contend," Cozby said. "Whoever wins here is going to have to be a great chipper and he is still that."
