US golfer throws massive strop and drives away from course amid Saudi golf rumours

American golfer Jason Kokrak decided he wasn't going to hang around after a disastrous finish to his second round at the Travelers Championship.

With his chances of making the cut seemingly gone, Kokrak, 33, then threw an explosive tantrum, storming away from the course in Connecticut without even bothering to complete his card. His actions meant he was officially disqualified from the event, which carries a total prize fund of £6.76 million.

Furthermore, Kokrak's actions have added further fuel to rumours he's set to become the latest star to join Greg Norman's Saudi-backed rebel golf tour. And if that was his final act as a PGA Tour member, then it was an exit so unceremonious that not even Phil Mickleson could compare.

Kokrak, 37, actually enjoyed a decent opening round at the TPC River Highlands course, shooting a three-under par 67. But two double bogeys on Friday left him level par heading down the par-four last [9th] and needing at least a birdie to book a place for the weekend.

But things went wrong on the tee when he hooked his shot into the rough, and then his approach shot bordered on farcical. Kokrak, who has three PGA Tour wins to his name, comically blasted his ball way over the green and across a nearby road.

He reacted by storming off the course and heading straight into his car before driving off. Organisers later confirmed he was officially disqualified for 'failing to record a score on his final hole and subsequently failing to return a scorecard'.
