US Games Sales Chart: Skyrim returns to top 20, Elden Ring at No.1
A slow month for video game releases has seen Skyrim return to the US top seller list, for the first time since 2017.
As per IGN, the list has been compiled based on dollar sales, and Bethesda’s massive RPG is back on the list.
It’s an amazing achievement, really, given that Skyrim released back in 2011, and has continued to sell remarkably well throughout its lifespan.
That may be down to the huge number of releases the game has received: It is playable on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and in VR.
Skyrim was the 20th most purchased game in the month of May.
The remainder of the list actually makes a bit more sense, with a number of more up to date releases included.
The top seller was Elden Ring, the massive From Software RPG, which has continued to show that it has remarkably long legs.
The remainder of the top five in the US is made up by Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Nintendo Switch Sports, Evil Dead: The Game and MLB: The Show 22.
Call of Duty: Vanguard and Gran Turismo 7 are two more games that help make up the top 10.
Other notable games in the top 20 are Minecraft, which remains wildly popular, Horizon 2: Forbidden West, FIFA 22 and the surprising Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War.
The entire top 20 is here.
