US Capitol siege hearings, Russia's hostage diplomacy, Johnson's confidence vote, Islam in India

The war in Ukraine is causing huge disruptions in world food markets since both countries are huge producers of grain, oil and fertiliser. Ukrainian grain ready for export is stuck in port because the Black Sea is now a no-go zone. Negotiations underway in Turkey have shown little progress, leading to accusations that Russia is using grain as a bargaining chip. Meanwhile, two Britons and a Moroccan who were fighting for Ukraine have been sentenced to death by court in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

It's been a challenging week for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He was booed on his way to the Queen's jubilee celebrations then faced a vote of no confidence because a sizable minority of MPs within his own party wanted to see him gone. However, he survived, winning 211 votes out of 359.

A diplomatic spat between India and the Muslim world has erupted over comments made by leaders of the ruling Hindu nationalist BJP that were seen as blasphemous to Prophet Mohammed. Marches have taken place in Bangladesh and Indonesia, Qatar and Kuwait. Iran has summoned the Indian ambassador to express its outrage.
