“Unlike other teams at the bottom...” – Journalist now drops hugely worrying Everton claim

Everton are ‘unlike other teams at the bottom’ of the Premier League table as they don’t seem capable of picking up positive results away from home, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees slumped to a hugely disappointing 3-2 defeat against relegation rivals Burnley on Wednesday evening, leaving them in serious danger of slipping into the Championship.

When manager Frank Lampard was appointed as Rafa Benitez’s successor on deadline day in the January transfer window, Everton were in 16th position in the top-flight standings, four points above the bottom three.

Now though, after winning just two of his opening nine Premier League games at the helm and losing the other seven, the Merseyside outfit are occupying 17th place with just one point separating them from the Clarets, who sit immediately below them.

And Everton’s fixture list and form on the road may be of particular concern to Lampard, the club’s hierarchy and fan base.

The Blues still have to face Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea between now and the end of the season, while their record away from Goodison Park will perhaps leave them with little hope of picking up points in almost half of their remaining fixtures.

Out of their 15 league games in opposition territory this season, Everton have won just once, drawing a further three times, leaving them with the worst points tally in the division.

In his post-match press conference, Burnley boss Sean Dyche revealed that he told his players ‘I’m not sure these know how to win a game, away from home particularly’ as motivation to spark a second-half comeback.
