"A lot of people at the club..." - Insider drops major Man Utd claim on £40m star Ten Hag loves

A number of people at Manchester United are still desperate to see Donny van de Beek be a success at the club, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax in a deal worth £40m in September 2020, but has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford.

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not seem to fancy van de Beek as he handed the Dutchman just four Premier League starts in his maiden campaign at the club.

The 24-year-old’s game time was even more restricted in the early stages of this season. He played just 68 minutes of top-flight football prior to moving to Everton on loan for the rest of the season on deadline day in January.

Van de Beek started six straight league matches under Frank Lampard at Goodison Park, but he is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.

The 19-cap international’s time at United has not gone to plan so far, but Jones has claimed that senior figures at the club are hopeful van de Beek can have a role in the team next term.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think we have to consider that one of the big tasks is to get van de Beek into this United team for next season. There are a lot of people at the club that still want that transfer to work out.”

Erik ten Hag appears to be on the brink of being appointed United’s next manager, and this could be good news for van de Beek.

The duo worked together at Ajax between 2018 and 2020, and van de Beek thrived during this period as the Dutch giants made it all the way to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019. Indeed, ten Hag praised van de Beek’s “enthusiasm” and “energy” when he was still in Amsterdam.
