University of Salford hails apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week
The University of Salford is one of the biggest providers of apprenticeship education in the North West and has supported more than 3,500 apprentices over nearly a decade.
The University works with around 400 employers, addressing skills gaps across various industries and providing a vital talent pipeline for sectors including construction, policing, health and public services.
National Apprenticeship Week (February 10-16) gave the University the unique opportunity to celebrate the sheer range of training, courses and activities it offers as part of its apprenticeship programmes.
The pinnacle of the week's celebrations was the University's annual Apprenticeship Awards. Held at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, Guest of Honour Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett emphasised the vital role apprenticeships play in the city’s future.
"Apprenticeships are the backbone of Salford's future. They provide career pathways while serving as engines of innovation and development,” he said.
"Beyond filling skills gaps, apprenticeships create motivated individuals who understand the real challenges businesses face.
The University of Salford plays a crucial role in bridging the divide between labour market challenges and the changing economy, ensuring hope for our citizens and preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Nic Beech added: "At the University of Salford, our unique position at the heart of the community enables us to empower those around us, enriching lives in Salford and beyond.
"We take great pride in breaking down barriers to opportunity, and our apprenticeship programmes are key. By working closely with employers, we ensure our students receive excellent work-integrated learning
