Ulster GAA confirms funding of over €1m for clubs

Ulster GAA has confirmed over €1.1million in grants will be available for clubs to carry out works to improve facilities, as well as to cover works carried out since 2019.

The money will be made up of €690,000 from the GAA's Central Council, while Ulster GAA is footing the other €476,822 to give a total of €1,166,822.

Tyrone has the most successful applicants, with 28 clubs sharing €218,394, followed by 22 in Derry sharing €169,642. Donegal clubs received the least amount of funding, with their 12 successful applicants sharing €52,026.

The Club Infrastructure Development Grants fund had been closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, but its reopening has seen, "the level of award and the number of successful clubs [at] the highest ever allocated from Ulster GAA in a single year," according to the provincial council.

"I've had the opportunity to visit a number of the recipient clubs and see the tremendous work they’ve completed over the last three years," Ulster GAA president Ciaran McLaughlin.

"In total, there was physical development expenditure of over €23m across all applications, and all of these clubs deserve great credit for their efforts over a very challenging period. Ulster GAA wanted to recognise these efforts and that is why we have decided to support this high number of applications."
