Ukraine morning roundup: Russia drops bombs on experimental nuclear reactor site - reports

A report is alleging that Russia has dropped bombs on an "experimental nuclear reactor" in Ukraine.

Reports were released in the early hours of this morning that a targeted attack took place on the National Science Centre Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology. The allegation came from the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine, according to the Kyiv Independent on Twitter.

"The State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine announced that the facility was struck, damaging the exterior and possibly numerous labs throughout the building," the paper said. The Kyiv Independent is an English language media outlet created by journalists who claim were "fired from the Kyiv Post for defending editorial independence".

Videos have begun cropping up on social media, showing a huge explosion at the airport in the city of Lutsk, north west Ukraine. Unconfirmed reports claimed that Russian missile strikes hit the area this morning, causing a huge fire ball to erupt in the dark sky.

Lutsk is approximately 50 miles from Ukraine's border with Poland.
