UFC prospect Ian Garry wants to fight on same card as fellow Irish star Conor McGregor

UFC welterweight prospect Ian Garry has confirmed he wants to fight on the same card as fellow Irishman Conor McGregor.

From a picture of them together in his youth to Conor shouting him out on social media, it’s clear to see that Ian Garry considers McGregor to be a huge influence in his career. ‘The Future’ holds a 9-0 pro MMA record and after making the move over to Sanford MMA, the 24-year-old is sending a clear message that he’s taking his pursuit of UFC gold very seriously.

In a post-fight interview following UFC 273, Garry was asked about his relationship with ‘Notorious’ and them potentially fighting on a card together.

“It’s insane. I get to hear my name come out of the biggest superstar in this sport’s mouth. People would pay for that. He wants me to win and he wants me to succeed, obviously a fellow countryman, and he flies it with pride.”

“Hopefully, we get on a card together in the near future when he’s back. We will rock that place, do you know what I mean? You put the two best talkers in the division, in the world [together]. He’s the best at what he does and I’m excited to see him come back.”

“Could you imagine? Could you imagine Vegas if we fought in Vegas together? The fans would go mental. You’d have to lockdown Vegas.”

A 7-0 run to start his professional journey saw Garry rise up through the ranks and capture the Cage Warriors welterweight title. Upon being signed to the UFC, a lot of fans had already started talking about him as one to watch in the next couple of years.

He holds two wins in the UFC thus
