UFC: Molly McCann flattened presenter with sickening leg kick

Molly McCann’s rise to prominence through the MMA scene is a story that is nothing short of sensational.

The fighter from Liverpool came through the ranks after studying for a degree at Liverpool John Moores University, supporting the earlier years of her career as a mixed martial artist by working at Subway.

That earned her the nickname ‘Meatball’ Molly, which has very swiftly become a fan favourite name in the fight scene following her steady ascent. Tireless hours in the gym and plenty of fights saw her work through the English MMA scene, becoming a Cage Warriors champion and amassing a 7-1 record before getting a shot with the UFC in 2018.

An explosive and passionate flyweight, McCann has a frightening striking game and isn’t afraid to take a hit, in order to get at her opponent with big shots of her own.

She’s proven that in her last two fights in the UFC, defeating Ji Yeon Kim in September 2021 and earning Fight of the Night in the process, and more recently beating Luana Carolina in March 2022 with perhaps the greatest knockout we’ll see all year – a sickening, spinning back elbow that went viral and earned her Performance of the Night.

And while she continues to prepare for a return to the octagon in July at UFC Fight Night 211, McCann has been enjoying some time in the United States and capitalising on the rabid fanfare she continues to grow for herself.
