UFC 280: Sean O'Malley admits he'd be ‘okay with losing’ to Petr Yan

UFC star Sean O’Malley has explained why he’s okay with the idea of losing his UFC 280 fight against Petr Yan.

While he may not exactly be everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no way of getting around the fact that Sean O’Malley is one of the most intriguing fighters in mixed martial arts. From his unique personality to his fantastic fight style, ‘Suga’ is the kind of athlete that everyone tunes in to see.

The 27-year-old still has plenty of time left to grow and develop as a UFC title contender but after his controversial no contest against Pedro Munhoz last month, many were wondering what the next step would be for the youngster.

The answer? A titanic showdown with Petr Yan at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi this October.

It was a fight that seemingly came out of nowhere with ‘No Mercy’ clearly wanting to make a statement by shutting O’Malley up once and for all.

Whether or not he’ll be able to do so remains a mystery but one thing is for sure – this is a highly anticipated contest that has the potential to vault Sean into a whole new level of superstardom.

During a recent interview with ESPN, O’Malley opened up on his feelings regarding the bout and the prospect of losing to the Russian.

“The closer the fight gets, the more confident I’ll become. I’ll get back to camp, get dialled in, get back to sparring, get back to eating perfect, sleeping perfect, just getting everything dialled in,” O’Malley said. 

“I’m just gonna get more confident as the fight gets closer. Then fight night, I’m gonna win that fight. Every fight that I go into, I’m okay with losing.
