UFC 280: Michael Bisping thinks Charles Oliveira could become lightweight GOAT

MMA legend Michael Bisping has explained how Charles Oliveira could become the greatest lightweight of all time with a win at UFC 280.

This Saturday night in the main event of UFC 280, Charles Oliveira will be presented with the chance to become a two-time lightweight champion when he locks horns with Islam Makhachev.

The pair have been lined up to face one another for quite some time now and finally, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, it’ll take place on a big pay-per-view stage.

The two men have won 21 fights in a row between them which shows you the kind of momentum they have but Oliveira, in particular, seems to be fighting for his legacy given that he’s the de-facto king of the division right now.

Some have wondered how much more he needs to do before getting into the GOAT conversation at 155 pounds and according to Michael Bisping, a victory at the weekend could hand him the keys to the castle.

“Greatest lightweight of all time? I think if Charles beats Islam this weekend, that belongs to Charles now,” Bisping said. “I really do. I think he will have surpassed him, simply because he’s taken out all the top contenders. And it’s not Khabib’s fault, but you cannot deny the numbers, the momentum, the history that Oliveira’s making.”

“Listen, we never saw him [Khabib] lose to anyone, and he was so dominant it’s hard to imagine him losing to anyone,” Bisping said. “All we ever saw was him win and dominate people.
